Anti – Malaria Campaign

Malaria is the number one killer of children under the age of five and pregnant women in Africa. In Uganda about 400 lives are lost daily to this preventable disease. The CORE-Uganda Anti-Malaria Campaign focuses on making the grassroots people, in the villages as well as urban centers, to become more aware of malaria, how it is contracted, its cure, and prevention, through community driven initiatives and programs.

Anti – Corruption Campaign

Corruption is one of the most invidious anti-development phenomenon in the developing world. Uganda is no exception. Building on the strategy of going to the individual, which Uganda used successfully in reversing the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the CORE-Uganda Anti-Corruption Campaign will target the individual, seeking to get commitments on an individual basis. The objective is to secure 1 million signers to the “Corruption Starts and Ends with Me” pledge by December 25, 2007.

Kogere Bagg Poverty Eradication Project

This innovative poverty eradication project is already yielding results although on a small scale. The project consists of women applying traditional techniques in weaving product the mkeka (mat). Other women and young girls are trained in transforming the mats into high quality finished ladies hand bags. These bags are carried by the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. (USA) and the United Nations Gift Shop at the UN Secretariat in New York City.

Ambassador and Honorary Consul General of Bunyoro - Kitara to the Americas

Cyril Boynes, Jr. Director of International Affairs of CORE, was appointed Honorary Consul General, with rank of Ambassador. He is currently building that office to include representatives throughout the Americas.

Project Redwood

The Director of International Affairs is negotiating what may prove to be a new paradigm in North/South partnership in development. The project involves the involvement of Stanford business School graduates in a concentrated commitment of resources and time to the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom in Uganda, to augment and scale up its development programs.

PEPFAR-HIV/AIDS Awareness Project

CORE-Uganda is currently in the application process for the new round of funding through the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis. The FUND is seeking new participants through its New Partners Initiative (NPI) for which CORE-Uganda is eligible. The CORE-Uganda project, national in scope will help to scale up the number of recipients the Global Fund seeks to affect.
